The Living Petition
United Nations
One Show Shortlist
A digital sculpture featuring 3D selfies to look at the world leaders in the eyes and tell them: “We Are Not a Target.”
Two-thirds of war victims are civilians. To voice discontent, we invited people to join a new type of petition during the UN General Assembly. Rather than signatures, we asked for something they do all the time—selfies.
We then used photogrammetry technology to turn the 2D images into 3D models. The sculpture's eyes "followed" decision-makers through kinetic sensors. The Living Petition is now at the permanent art exhibition at the United Nations HQ in New York.
